Symetrix is about to perform extended maintenance on our email server.  Expect this to last approximately 2 hours.  We will post a status here when this maintenance is completed.

Wow that was quick.  Cut-over has been made.  We will continue to monitor and test throughout the afternoon and evening.

3:45 PM
Our ISP is about to make the cut.  We will post again once we have confirmed things are working.

10:15 AM

Symetrix is excited that today is the day we have waited literally months for.  We are getting a fiber-optic based Metro Ethernet connection.  It means over 3 times faster Internet speeds from our office.  And lays the foundation that as we grow we can more easily increase the speeds.

 

The changeover is scheduled for 3:30 PM Eastern today (October 11^th).  This was the latest time slot that our ISP would offer.  If all goes well, this outage will only last 10 minutes or less.  The techs are scheduled to arrive at 3:30 PM, but would expect the actual cut-over to occur sometime closer to 4PM.

 

This will affect all hosted services such as Email, Peer-Link, Web Hosting, FTP, etc. 

 

You can also monitor this page, http://www.symetrixnet.com/service-alerts.html, and we will post any change in status there.  This web page is hosted on different servers and Internet provider, and will be unaffected by this outage.

Symetrix experienced an issue this morning with our mail server.  Some were able to receive email but not send whereas others could not send or receive email.  We found that a defrag maintenance task was still running on the mail server and causing it to use too many resources.  We killed that task and email began to work normally.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

10:25PM - We have fully completed the scheduled maintenance and all servers and services are back online.  Email and Web Services were only down between 7:30PM and 8PM.  Again we thank you for your support.

We need to rearrange some servers and equipment in our computer room and add more rack space to accommodate future equipment.  Rather than run the risk of moving equipment that is powered on, we plan to gracefully power down everything.

This planned outage will affect all of our services such as Email, Web Hosting, FTP, Peer-Link, etc.

We will begin this maintenance at 7PM on Wednesday, August 15th.  We hope this work will be completed within 2 hours.  We will post a message on our Service Alerts web page when the work is completed: http://www.symetrixnet.com/service-alerts.html

Service was initially restored at 11:30 AM.  We found that the firewall had locked up and was not responding.  After power-cycling the firewall everything began to work normally.  We were planning to swap out this aging firewall later this evening, but given the circumstances decided to move up that timeline.  So there was another brief outage at 1:15 PM as we deployed the new firewall.  All services are working normally and we will continue to monitor and test throughout the day.

Symetrix has lost one of our primary Internet connections about 15 minutes ago. 
This affects several hosting services including Email, Web, Peer-Link, and FTP.  
We are working to resolve this issue.
