We are experiencing an Internet outage. Our ISP, Windstream Communications is apparently experiencing a widespread outage in the Knoxville, TN area. We have several clients that have lost their Internet and Phones. We will keep you posted as we learn more. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Symetrix lost our primary Internet connection at approximately 6:30PM. We have contacted our Internet Service Provider. This affects all hosted services. We will post an update to this status when the problem has been resolved. 3/7/2013 @ 11:38 AM Eastern

Power has been restored at the Symetrix office and the servers are up, however, the Internet is still down. We have contacted our Internet Service Provider for them to check their equipment. 3/7/2013 @ 8:41 AM
Apparently a transformer has blown outside of our office. This has caused the Internet at the Symetrix office to go down as well. The power company has been contacted. This affects all Internet hosted services such as Email, Web Hosting, Peer-Link, etc. We apologize for this inconvenience and will keep you posted 01/02/2013 @ 2:45 PM Eastern Shortly before 2 PM Eastern, our Windstream Internet Services were restored. We have contacted several our clients that are also Windstream clients and they too appear to be up now. Our Windstream rep tells us there is a traffic re-route in place around the fiber-optic cut. We're also told that this may have been connected to a fire in Chattanooga caused by fireworks. So far unable to find a news story to substantiate this. We have been in contact with Windstream representatives who have confirmed there is a fiber-optic cable cut somewhere in or near Chattanooga, TN. Repairs are underway, however, they have not issued an estimate of when the repairs will be completed. Another source tells us that over 10,000 customers are being affected by this outage. For some of our clients that also use Windstream their phones and Internet are down, whereas for others, just their Internet is down. Shortly before 4PM on 01/01/2013 Symetrix began experiencing issues with our primary Internet Service Provider, Windstream Communications (formerly NuVox). This outage appears to be very widespread and is affecting all our customers in the Knoxville, TN area that use Windstream. Based upon our network probing, we suspect there has been a fiber-optic cable cut between Atlanta, GA and Knoxville, TN but we have no way to confirm that.
